The Paris Air Show, an institution

Originally, the air show was held at the same time as the motor show, in one of its annexes. In 1909, Robert Esnault-Pelterie (the first person to design an airplane without an engine) and André Granet (architect) decided to organize the first show exclusively devoted to aeronautics at the Grand Palais. The first edition was a success, with over 135 exhibitors and thousands of visitors.

In 1927, Charles Linderbergh flew non-stop from New York to Le Bourget airport, and the air show became world-renowned, specializing in business aviation. In 1953, the air show moved permanently to Le Bourget.

Today, the Paris Air Show is one of the world’s two biggest aeronautical events. On a par with Farnborough, and ahead of Singapore and Dubai. As in 1953, the air shows are eagerly awaited and are the highlights of the show. It is now organized by the SIAE subsidiary of GIFAS, Groupement des Industries Françaises Aéronautiques et Spatiales.

An event not to be missed

The Paris Air Show brings together all the industry’s key players to showcase the latest technological innovations, and offers exhibitors and visitors alike the chance to experience magical moments through playful, educational and futuristic animations, but above all during the air show that takes place every afternoon.

At the Paris Air Show, you’ll find exceptional exhibitors such as Airbus, Ariane and Dassault. But also exceptional visitors such as the President of the French Republic, major decision-makers from the aeronautics sector, etc.

The 54th edition of Le Bourget, held in 2023, broke its attendance record, welcoming some 2,500 exhibitors from 47 countries, nearly 400,000 visitors and 140 aircraft.

The Paris Air Show and Borrelly

Borrelly, 4th generation since 1933, has specialized in the design and manufacture of technical metal spring washers since the 1970s. A wide range of corrugated washers was developed for prestressing the bearings used in all electric motors. Numerous special productions gradually appeared for a wide range of applications, particularly in the aerospace sector. Borrelly began participating in the Paris Air Show with the Syndicat de la Métallurgie, which had a joint stand, and then with the CCI in the 80s. By the end of the 1990s, participation on an individual stand had been organized.

Borrelly will be celebrating 20 years of En9100 certification in 2024, and more than 20 participations in the 2025 edition of the Paris Air Show.
