Our Borrelly Carbon Disc Spring washers

For almost 50 years, Borrelly Spring Washers, designer and manufacturer of technical spring washers, has been adapting to new technologies to create innovative solutions. The proof, once again, is in the form of the Belleville washer in carbon material.

“We were the first in France and Europe to develop a spring washer in composite material”, explains Fabien Bourgeon, in-house engineer.

Made-to-measure, they are redesigned according to customer specifications. Diameters range from 10 to 150 mm. The use of such washers offers multiple advantages.

First and foremost, the use of carbon makes it possible to reduce weight. The washers are 60-70% lighter than equivalent metal washers. Ideal for aerospace, military and motorsport applications, for example. Secondly, these conical washers deliver the most force in the smallest space, and can be stacked. The new Belleville washers also offer high chemical resistance to acids, alcohols, oils and salt solutions, unlike steel and even stainless steel washers. This makes them particularly suitable for the medical and food industries.

Finally, their material is non-magnetic. This makes them a highly attractive alternative to the expensive non-magnetic metallic solutions used in the design of small electric motors.
